I'm a Mum and....

May 28, 2013

The recent campaign headline from Candies Foundation, as mentioned in my recent Telegraph post on the delightful twitter trend, ‘You should be changing the world, not changing diapers’ makes the assumption that a woman who is a mother is consequently unable to have a significant impact of the world, that her child rearing role automatically renders all other roles obsolete.  It assumes that childbirth leaves a mother’s brain comparable to mush, or incapable of balancing anything more t...

"Your Mum Goes to College"

May 10, 2013

The Office for National Statistics revealed last month that there were 45,000 fewer "stay-at-home mothers" between December and February, down to 2.06m. This increase prompted much debate on whether mothers are being pressured into work by the government, and whether stay at home mothers are being effectively discriminated against through lack of support. Joint #youngmumschat!

March 13, 2013

For this weeks #youngmumschat we are joining forces with another twitter mum's chat that use the hashtag #somum -  When I agreed to this a few weeks ago I didn't realise quite how organised @storyofmum was!! This is her post about the chat! Apparently there are prizes and you can do stuff with balloons and all sorts!!?? - Puts my organisational skills to shame (I'm usually finalising the questions mid-way through the actual chat!)

Anyway, the theme is 'embarrassing mums'! And I've writ...

Tommy's support for Pregnant Teens!

January 18, 2013

Its not always easy to find support as an expectant young parent. There is no big national 'Young Parent' orgnaisation or charity. Google 'young parent support' and you'll get a variety of local websites and reports, some relevant, some not.

So when you find an amazing resource for young parents-to-be, which is totally free it NEEDS to be shared! On top of that, they want YOUR views to make it even better...

Tommys is a national charity that funds medical research into the causes of premature b...
